With the news that Sunderland young midfielder Grant Leadbitter has returned to the premiership club after picking up a shin injury. Millers boss Mick Harford has acted quick to fill his place in the squad.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Mick looked back on Leadbitter's stay here before mentioning the new player.

"When he first come, he had'nt played a lot of football, he'd obviously been in and out of the Sunderland's reserve team, but he's worked hard here."

Grant Leadbitter
"He's potentially going to be a good footballer and he was progressing nicely, its just a shame that he's and to go back with injury."

"We're always have players in mind, although its a hard job bringing that player in, There will be somebody coming in before the weekend, a midfielder."

Somebody rang up saying he heard it was David Fox, the midfielder we were linked with from Man Utd, that could fit in given that Harford had recently watched a reserve game between Man U and Wigan, although it could also be Paul Evans who is currently training at Millmoor after being told he has no future at Nottingham Forest. However Forest still pay his wages and hold his registration and would want a %age of his wages should be come on loan here.

The Millers other loanee Barry Conlon could also be sent back to Barnsley after picking up a knee injury.

The Irishman is about half way through a 3 month loan deal, and missed the game against Colchester through injury and is unable to face his own club this coming saturday anyway.

Mick said, "Barry's injured at the moment, he's been to see the surgeon and has a problem with his knee. We're talking to Barnsley at the moment and we want to do it amicably and want everything sorting out as quickly as possible. It's a matter of getting a few reports from the doctors."

Mick was asked about a possible replacement up front, " Well we've been short all season, we've 2 established strikers in Butler and Burton but it doesnt leave you a lot."

"Will Hoskins is a promising young lad, then theres Marc Newsham whos a young YTS kid. They're both young footballers but to throw them in at this stage of the season is unfair on them i think really."
