Despite having his wage budget cut by £800,000 and his team being docked 10 points for the clubs financial strife, Alan Knill was awarded with the Manager of the Year award for the Yorkshire region at last nights awards presentation in Sheffield.

It completes a good weekend for the Millers boss after his team picked up 3 points against Yeovil on the Saturday, and a very glowing feature on ITV's The Championship programme, (which can be seen on the MillersMAD YouTube channel)

Knill told todays Rotherham Star; "I was invited and just went along with the chairman to the function and had absolutely no idea that I might end up winning anything. It was a complete surprise when they announced it."

"I'm not the sort of person who wants pats on the back, I just want to get on with my job and do it to the best of my ability but I have to say I am delighted to get such recognition after what has been a difficult year. Of course, a manager needs people behind him and I couldn't have done it without support of people and without the efforts of the players." he added.

Knill had earlier told the RUST AGM that he does'nt do slaps on the back very well, but what drives him on is the desire to prove people wrong, and so far he's doing a damn good job of it..

Well Done Alan!!!
