Millers wanting to get shirty with the schools...

The Millers launched the scheme to have a framed shirt in every school last season, but as yet only Thornhill J & I signed up despite plenty of school visits from players and club staff.

Speaking to todays Advertiser, the clubs community liaison officer, Mark Hitchens, relauched the scheme saying; "We want as many schools as possible to back us. Rotherham United is, after all, their local team and they should be proud to support us."

"The shirts scheme can be tailored to individual needs. In return for having a signed, framed shirt on show, schools can take their choice from a whole range of benefits."

"They can have free tickets for games, player visits to assemblies or one-to-one reading schemes, question and answer sessions or other classroom and outdoor projects. We are open to any ideas. This is about raising the profile of Rotherham United and helping local schoolchildren at the same time." he added.

With other local clubs having recent successful seasons while the Millers have generally been struggling for the last 5 years the club are hoping to attract a younger fan to Millmoor.

Mark added: "We need to get children from behind their computer schemes and to get down to Millmoor and generally become more active. Our scheme can help in this."
