Hursty set to equal Williams' record

And the Millers stalwart is excited about the prospect of possibly beating the long standing record this Saturday against Shrewsbury Town.

Hurst first pulled on a Millers first team jersey back in 1993 and 14 years later he's set to soon break the record for the most first team league appearances by a Rotherham player, standing at 461.

Speaking to RotherFM, he said: "It's very exciting. When I think back to my first couple of games it seems a long time ago but really it's passed extremely quickly."

The lifelong Wednesday-ite is trying to keep focused on the job in hand though as a second round FA Cup tie at Swindon is on the team's minds. Ironically if the team gets through tonight's game, Swindon are the team that former player Williams went on to manage in 1965.

He added: "It's nice to get some attention. Being a left back you aren't in the limelight as much as the goalscorers. I just want to get through the game tonight and get to the next round.

"Maybe tomorrow afternoon I'll have a bit of time to think about it all", he chuckled.

All at MillersMAD wish Hursty the best of luck in tonight's game and i'm sure he'll get a good ovation before kick off and also this coming weekend.
