Horseplay gives groundsman grief...

Well I'm sure many of you would expect the Millmoor pitch to be in excellent nick given the amount of crap thats been on it over the last couple of years or so, but groundsman Bill Corby has been doing his usual trick of getting the pitch in tip top condition ahead of the new season.

Speaking to Millersworld, Bill said; "The pitch is fine, we've just started to go into cutting but its a bit wet today. The pitch will be cut everyday now and its comeing on lovely. The goalmouth is a little thin at one end but its nothing to worry about."

"We've had no problems at all really this summer, only the fact of getting it as short as I would like because its been a good growing season and we've got 2 months to go so it's all on schedule."

Corby was thankful of some good weather; "I've never known it to have put less water on with the sprinklers, the forecast for this week is warm and wet which is good so we'll just let it happen, it just makes it awkward with cutting but we'll do it inbetween the showers."

Also during the police 'show of strength' after the last home match of the season, one of their nags decided to have an industrial sized pee on the pitch, leaving a part of the pitch burnt..  Corby had a joke about it and said ;"It must have really wanted to go because I seeded and reseeded the area and it wouldn't grow so I had to cut a bit of turf from behind the goal, I don't think we'll be having the horse of the year show!!" he laughed.
