The Peterborough Evening Telegraph reports that the Millers are in the hunt to re-sign Guy Branston, who has been told he can leave London Road.

Posh manager Darren Ferguson is carrying out an overhaul of his squad and Branston is one of a number of players that have been told their future lies elswhere. The Telegraph understands that the Millers and the Posh have talked over a free transfer move for the central defender.

Branston was something of a cult hero in his Millmoor days, combining brute strength and wholehearted enthusiasm in a way that deservedly earned him the nick-name "psycho" and many fans see him as the sort of player that the Millers will need to compete in League Two next year.

Reports from Lincolnshire, though, suggest the Millers face competition for his signature from Lincoln City. The Forgotten Imp, an unofficial web-site with strong links to powers that be at the Sincil Bank club, reports that the Imps are also in talks with the Leicestershire-born player.
