Footymad preview History of the Rotherham United v Oxford United fixture

Rotherham United prepare to entertain Oxford United at Don Valley Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and hold the advantage on previous meetings between the two. Of the 10 games played, The Millers have recorded 4 wins, and Oxford United have come away with 2 victories.

The most recent encounter between these two sides at Don Valley  was less than a year ago, in November 2010, the Millers carving out a narrow 2-1 victory in a League Two match.

U's boss Chris Wilder has brought in 9 new faces, same as Millers boss and former Oxford boy Andy Scott.

Definitely ruled out this afternoon is former Miller Paul McLaren who is back in training after injury but misses out. Elsewhere The U's have experience at the back with Michael Duberry lining up alongside skipper Jake Wright and former Coventry and Brentford man Andrew Whing playing on the right.

Midfield is likely to consist of ex-Chessie man Peter Leven and Tom Craddock, whilst the goal threats come from another new boy Deane Smalley, Simon Clist and last years top scorer James Constable.

Tony Capaldi is absent with a back problem as the visitors look to continue their impressive 9 game pre-season unbeaten run.

The Millers will draft in Andy Warrington to the bench as Jamie Annerson is injured. New boy Michael Raynes is also likely to sit on the sidelines after only signing yesterday from Scunthorpe. Troy Brown is the likely partner for skipper Ryan Cresswell at the back.

Luke Foster and Danny Schofield are likely to be fit after pre-season niggles whilst Scott must decide if he goes with 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation, meaning Lewis Grabban will either tuck in to partner Chris Holroyd and Adam Le Fondre or start on the right flank.

Remember it's back down to 5 subs this season from 7, so some people will be left disappointed.

The footys back, Up the Millers!
