The 20Questions - Oldham Athletic

Last updated : 13 March 2006 By Bigrich.....
Who are you, where are you from and how long have you supported your club?

Dave Moore now living in British Columbia, Canada. I have supported Oldham since the 1959-60 season.

What was your first game?
I think Gillingham at home 1959-60

Describe the most memorable and the worst game you have seen and why?
Most memorable was beating West Ham 6-0 in the League Cup semi-final in 1990. It was a record score and more or less guaranteed out first ever final.

Worst game was losing to South Shields in the FA Cup way back in the 60's or 70's. I had travelled to South Shields for the first game and we lost at home in the replay, the first time we had ever lost to a non-league team.

Who are your current local rivals and why?
Wigan because they are Oldham wannabees. They steal out nickname and colours.
We also hate the Red scum from down the road but I was supporting them in the ManUre v Wigan League Cup final.

Who are the best and worst players you have seen?
Best players is probably the whole of the defence at the moment as they are just getting it together.

Worst - I don't like to single players out as Richard Butcher has had a torrid time this season and I wouldn't wish that on any player.

How did you fare last season?

Where do you think you’ll finish up this season?
8th.

If Oldham were a TV personality, who would it be and why?
Patrick Moore - sometimes boring but always eccentric.

Which team do you want to beat this season the most and why?
Always the next team we play.

So what do you think of The Millers?
Saw the game early on in the season when you beat us at Boundary Park. You looked handy but were lucky to win. I sincerely hope that you get out of your financial crisis like we did. You need luck though.

Which current or former Millers player has impressed you the most?
Don't really know enough about them.

Are you happy with your chairman and board members?
Absolutely! Without them there would be no Oldham Athletic now.

Oldham have had their own financial Problems, you seem to have come out of it. Hows it going down there? And what can we learn should we survive?
I'm afraid that it won't be long before a team goes under. People who can pump thousands of pounds into a losing business every week are few and far between.

Keep the fans involved and show the club that you care. We have a supporter on the board now because of our off the field efforts through the crisis. Good luck!

Ronnie Moore - Millmoor legend. Can he acheive simlar status at Boundary Park?
I hope so. There are still "Moore Outers" but the teams league position speaks for itself. Boring season on the field though - that's starting to get at supporters.

What sort of line up can we expect from you?
3-5-2 as it's working well at the moment. Our leading scorer, Andy liddell is out for the season so he won't be playing although we have done well without him in the last few games.

Who’s your strongest/weakest link?
Strongest - defence as we currently have 4 shut-outs.
Weakest - can't say. we are pretty good all round if we keep our current form.

Whats your predicted score??
1-3 to Oldham

Who’s going up?
Huddersfield, Swansea and Southend

Who’s going down?
The current bottom 4 teams - MkDonalds (yes - finally), Rotherham, Swindon and Yeovil.

And finally….Meat and tatty, Beef n Onion or Balti?
Meat and Tatty and Hollands are the best!
