20Questions - Brighton & Hove Albion

Last updated : 29 April 2005 By Bigrich.....
Who are you; where are you from and how long have you supported your club?
Gareth Harker Originally i'm from Newhaven,a non descript town to the east of Brighton, but have lived in Langdon Hills, Essex for last ten years

What was your first game?
September 1979, v Ipswich, 2-0 win

Describe the most memorable and worst game you've seen and why?
Most memorable being last year's play off final, not so much the game, but the occasion, the worst game being Hereford away 1997, needing a draw to stay in the league. 1-0 at half time and playing like drains, thinking we were in the Conference.

If BHA was a Celebrity, who would it be and why?
Shaun Ryder - cool, laidback, dont give a damn attitude, still standing despite many knockbacks over the years

Who do you consider as your current local rivals, and why?
Crystal Palace, nearest team, and due to some great promotion battles in the late 70's.

Who are the best and worst players you have seen?
Best, probably Mark Lawrenson, a rolls royce of a player, worst I would say Damian Hilton, a striker from the dark days at Gillingham, no goals and as mobile as Rik Waller.

Which current or former Rotherham player impressed you most?
Richie Barker, ex Albion, always gave 100%. I remember John Seasman and Tony Towner as a kid as well.

So what do you think of The Millers?
Friendly, passionate club of committed, caring supporters. Impressive youve stayed in this Division as long as you have.

How did you fare last season?
Finished 6th, won the play offs.

How did you expect to fair this season?
At the start of the season, I was struggling to find where any wins were coming from, so fourth from bottom would be an achievement.

Its a bit tight down there, can you stay up?
Of course. A point may just do it, as Crewe are in freefall. Knowing Brighton, we'll lose to you, and stuff Ipswich.

League 1, you came up at the first attempt, how hard was it?
A fairly mediocre division. All you need is a 20 goal striker and your in the play offs at least. Thought we played awfully last season, but seemed to stay in the top six with ease. Most teams down there are treading water so you should be OK.

Hows the Falmer appeal coming on?
Just wrapping up the reopened enquiry, into where the stadium should be built, then hopefully in June, Prescott will say yes.

Is your manager barking mad?
Committed, passionate, wears his heart on his sleeve, but mad, no.

Are you happy with your Chairman/Backroom staff?
Yep. Without the chairman, I doubt the club would exist today.

Which team do you want to beat the most this season and why?
Personally, West Ham, because Im a teacher in a West Ham supporting area. Such a sweet day when we beat them 1-0.

What sort of line-up can we expect from you?
3-5-2, Blayney (GK), El-Abd, Butters, Virgo at the back, Harding and Reid as wing backs, Carpenter, Nicolas and Hammond in the centre, McPhee and Knight up front. Watch out for Jake Robinson on the bench, striker with lots of pace and skill.

Predicted score?
Wouldn't like to say.

Who's going up?
Sunderland, Wigan, Derby

Who's going down?
Rotherham, Forest, Crewe
