Harford was aware however, of the ineptitude of the defending. Talking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Harford said: "I’m devastated really; you can’t win football matches if you defend like that. The defending was shocking and if you let goals in like that you can’t win games. We just can’t defend at the moment, every ball that goes in to our box people stand unmarked and every ball that goes through the middle of the park looks like it’s going to bring a goal and you just can’t defend like that.
Under Pressure

You defend as a team, I’m not going to pin the blame on anyone, were not defending properly. Some of the decisions we’re making are shocking and it’s costing us games. If you score three goals at home you expect to win, you don’t expect to let four goals in. We work on throw ins, defending corners, defending everything as a team. I don’t know if it’s lack of concentration, if they’re tired or if they can’t handle the responsibility and I’ve got to work that out."

Harford was also furious with midfielder Michael Keane, who inexplicably kicked out at Gus Uhlenbeek prompting a scrap which saw both men sent off. "I said to the players at half time if anyone gets sent off in this game I will come down on them like a tonne of bricks. He deserved to get sent off, he’s stupid, I’m not sticking up for Michael Keane and he deserved to get sent off."
