"It is brilliant, it's been a long time coming and they did very well passing a lot better although we had to soak up some pressure but we looked comfortable.

"Ryan Taylor took his goal superbly well from a narrow angle and the supporters who turned up sang their hearts out and got behind us. They were asked to boycott the game but it's always nice to have fans singing and cheering on the players who were excellent.

"We got more from our strikers, they held the ball up more and in the second half Town changed things around and we had to respond as we had some pressure on us but we were comfortable.

"We looked as if we were enjoying defending and when we came out one or two passes were too short but for the most part of the game we were full value. The whole team turned on some good performances, make no mistake they have worked their socks off and that's all you can ask.

"For the goal Ryan put their lad under pressure and got his reward for it so hopefully that's a lesson for him and he will continue to do that. Tom Cahill held the ball up well and overall we were a lot better.

"We will maintain that postivity hopefully as we have had too many kicks in the teeth recently so we have to lift the atmosphere around the training ground, credit to everyone today as they forgot the troubles.

"Behind the scenes it's all politics, we have to get on with the football side of things as we face weeks of uncertainty. Today was what Rotherham United is all about."
