Bournemouth made it difficult - Robins

The Millers first League Two away fixture of the season ended in a single goal defeat at Bournemouth. After the game Millers manager Mark Robins spoke to the official site, at themillers.co.uk how Bournemouth stifled his team he said:

"All credit to Bournemouth they stifled us and made it very difficult. At times they created confusion in our defence which it should have been very simple for us to deal with. We didn't pass the ball as well as we know that we can do. We have to work at it and get it right. We have one or two new players in the side and we need to make sure that they gel a little better and quicker."

He added: "We didn't create enough and stood off them a little too much. They would have expected us to come today as challengers for promotion and they gave us a lot of respect and now they will have come away thinking that they have a chance of promotion. That is something that we are going to have to live with this season."

He went on to say:

Bournemouth's front two gave the Millers defence plenty of problems:

"Fletcher and Pitman up front have pulled onto the shoulders of the defenders and made it uncomfortable,"

"I thought that we were a bit laboured in our movements and I am not pleased with the way we defended at times and with the way we passed the ball."

The second half saw the Millers big money signings on the pitch together as Adam Le Fondre came on to partner Tom Pope up font"

Tom looked like he was suffering a little today," said Robins.

"He couldn't get hold of the ball which was a disappointment and he hasn't shown what he is capable of today. We need to do a little more work with him and we need to make sure that we get him in the right areas."
