Scott hoping for quick league return

The 33 year old signed for the Conference side earlier this month after his release from Macclesfield Town and he admits he had no qualms about leaving league football.

Talking to www.halifaxtownafc.co.uk the former Millers man said: "Dropping out of league football is not an issue for me. The Blue Square Premier (conference) is probably on par with League Two anyway".

Scott was released by Rotherham in 2005 after a seven year spell at the club and he was an integral part of the late 90's and early 00's glory days. After over 160 Millers starts, the former Fulham and Sheffield United striker turned defender followed his old boss Ronnie Moore to Oldham before being allowed to join Paul Ince's Macclefield a year later.

Still based in Rotherham, the long throw specialist is hoping that he will be back in league football this time next year. "One of the reasons I came here is that I believe we can get back there. I am hoping it is a short term thing and if I am out of the league for one year all's well and good."

Ironically Scott's first game for Town was against Rotherham in a behind closed doors friendly at Hooton Lodge which the Shaymen won 1-0.
