Moulin Rouge: Bradford Review

Last updated : 16 November 2005 By Millersmad Staff

And so it goes on at Millmoor! It has been 15 months since we have seen a win on a Saturday in a home match though if there was ever going to be a game we deserved to win then this was it. Bradford are expected to be up there come the end of the season and we have tanned them from the first minute, created many chances and only come away with a point. That has been a problem for far too long and it will be interesting to see how many points we lose because of not putting our chances away when on top.

We cannot have any complaints about our performance as yet again we showed a passing and movement game that we have not seen the likes of before and the game should have been over by half time really. Jamie Campbell-Ryce, Burton, McLaren, Keane and Butler all had efforts that should have hit the back of the net and I said at half time that we have to start scoring when we’re on top! Bradford didn’t really offer much in response and the one way traffic continued in to the second half when Murdoch, Butler and Burton went close again.

Just as we were all beginning to say “well a point is better than nowt” we got a bit of luck as a Bradford player was down after having his knacker’s broken and the ref allowed play to go on. A great pass by Barker sent Deon Burton through and he finished with great aplomb to the huge relief of every Rotherham fan in the ground. Having waited so long for the goal with only nine minutes left it may have been an idea to protect what we had especially since it came in the middle of Bradford’s best spell. We continued to push on though and we were caught napping at the back when Wind(y)ass sneaked behind our defence and headed home before getting clattered by the keeper. Daylight robbery as described by the manager himself. Even then though we still created a couple of chances to get a winner but it just wasn’t going to be. The curse of Millmoor goes on. Yes it’s good to see such a performance but the feeling of walking out of the ground feeling disappointed is still there. Give me a win with a dire performance any day of the week.
