Stoke City 0 Millers 2

The Millers lined up: Pollitt, Minto, Gilchrist, Swailes, Stockdale, Mullin, Morris, S.Barker, Sedgwick, Butler, Proctor.

Around 1500 Millers fans were in good voice and watched a bright start to the game by Rotherham.

Early on Morris saw his long range effort just go over the bar, and then the Millers were unlucky again where Sedgwick found good space, but chose to square the ball instead of shoot, and the ball was put out for a corner.

Class Act
Morris then found a great opportunity where Sedgwick squared, but put the ball over from 6 yards. Minutes later he made up for this though. Proctor beat the Stoke defender, and passed to Morris, who drove the ball low and hard with his left foot into the corner of the goal.

Although the Millers were well on top, Stoke then missed two good chances, which fell to ex Deeda, Carl Asaba. The second was the worst miss, where Pollitt was still grounded after saving a long drive, and Asaba passed the ball into Pollitts arms.

Despite Stoke finding some slight pressure, the Millers maintained

good pressure with Morris passing the ball well, and Shaun Barker picking up many loose balls resulting in our possession.

Just before half time Shaun Barker was unlucky where he passed a Stoke defender, and fired a 25 yard shot, only to see it parried wide by Cutler.

Half Time: Stoke 0 – 1 Millers.

Millers kicked towards the Rotherham fans in the second half.

The game settled after the break with neither team creating many chances early on. After 64 minutes Stoke brought on Karl Henry for Peter Hoekstra, although the substitution had little effect.

Goalscorer
On 68 minutes Sedgwick got the ball on the right, and appeared to have no options, but found Butler who managed to pull away from the defender. Butler chested the ball down, took a touch to sidestep the defender and then curled into the bottom corner with a right foot shot from 25 yards.

At this point the game was won. Morris was nearly rewarded for his hard work where the ball broke to him just outside the box, and he curled a left footed shot which hit the inside of the post.

The game finished 2-0 to the Millers, and this was an encouraging performance which got us an important win. Morris looked the best he has since signing for us, and Shaun Barker put in a man of the match performance in central midfield. The Stoke defence looked worried every time Proctor ran at them, and Sedgwick was also brilliant when running at the Stoke defence.

He's a happier man
It’s a shame the other results did not go for us today, but this win puts us on 49 points, so surely a win against Watford next Saturday will make us almost safe.
