Veteran Dele Adebola fired into an empty net to give Rochdale a deserved lead on the stoke of half time before Alex Revell levelled with a powerful header on the hour after some intense Millers pressure.
Substitute Daniel Nardiello then nodded home from close range to put the Millers infront before Bobby Grant equalised from the spot after Jason Kennedy went down rather softly in the area.
And McIntyre fired home from 20 yards to seal the victory for Dale after a one two with David Putterill.
