An eye-catching display by Argyle's Hungarian midfielder Akos Buzsaky made home fans forget about departing French hero David Friio but just failed to inspire the Pilgrims to victory.

Friio is set to sign for Argyle's Coca-Cola Championship rivals Nottingham Forest on Monday in a £100,000 deal after being a key member of the Pilgrims' side which won two championships in three seasons.

However, his departure was soon forgotten as Argyle captain Paul Wotton celebrated the signing of a three-and-half year extension to his contract by netting the early second-half penalty that cancelled out Andy Monkhouse's speculative first-half opener.

Driven on by the magnificent Magyar, Plymouth struck the woodwork and had a goal ruled out as they tried to ease their relegation worries but bottom side Rotherham held on for a rare away point.

Buzsaky tried a dipping shot from 30 yards which was tipped over the crossbar by Rotherham goalkeeper Mike Pollitt before Monkhouse took advantage of some space to net from 25 yards.

Buzsaky then set up on-loan Southampton forward Dexter Blackstock for a shot on the turn which Pollitt did well to divert for a corner, before trying a long-range shot which was scrambled away by the goalkeeper.

Argyle levelled when assistant referee Brendan Malone spotted a disputed foul on Blackstock by Chris Swailes, with Wotton hitting the resultant spot-kick straight down the middle.

Blackstock and Buzsaky both went close before Pollitt turned aside a 25-yard drive from Nick Chadwick, Argyle's £250,000 signing from Everton.

Worse was to follow for Argyle as Chadwick smashed an overhead kick against the crossbar and Blackstock, following up, was ruled offside.
