The striker now has 21 goals for the season as his first half double, one a penalty, saw Rotherham in cruise control as they moved back into fourth spot.

Le Fondre took just 11 minutes to open his account after good work by Nicky Law and the recalled Kevin Ellison, finishing off a neat move from close range.

The Millers were in total command of the first period and Le Fondre doubled the advantage on 35 minutes, smashing home a penalty after Daggers skipper Mark Arber brought him down and was lucky to stay on the field of play.

Jon Nurse had the visitors best chances, forcing Andy Warrington into one smart save and Danny Green looked a threat from the wide areas, but in truth it was Rotherham who could and should have added more goals.

Tom Pope headed over the top after the break, Eliison dragged a shot wide after neat build up play once again involving the improved Law, and Le Fondre could have completed his hat trick as the Millers ran out deserved winners.
