Millers 1-0 Aldershot

Last updated : 11 December 2010 By Deano

Adam Le Fondre got the only goal of the game but how it remained 1-0 is a mystery after several missed chances and a missed penalty in an entertaining encounter.

Le Fondre scored his 17th of the season as he pounced at the back post just before the break to finish off great wing play by man of the match Marcus Marshall on the right flank.

However the visitors had earlier spurned the chance to go infront against the run of play when Wade Small hit the inside of the post from the spot after a foul on Ben Herd.

Apart from that the Millers has bossed proceedings, with Le Fondre and Johnny Mullins going close.

The Shots best moment of the half came when Andy Warrington tipped Ben Harding's effort wide at full stretch.

After the break the Millers should have increased their lead.

Jamie Young was at his best to palm over Nick Fenton's header as Le Fondre, on the hunt to further his tally, smashed one over the crossbar.

Skipper Ryan Cresswell was then stretchered off and replaced by Luke Ashworth.

With 12 minutes left the second goal almost came in freak fashion, as Young lost grasp of the ball on the edge of his box at the feet of Ryan Taylor.

The 'keeper then blasted the loose ball against Le Fondre and everyone watched as it sailed just wide of the upright.

Taylor almost netted late on but Young saved with his legs as Jamie Vincent saw red for the visitors after a trip on Marshall saw the full back receive his second yellow card.
