Rotherham v Darlington Match Preview

Last updated : 09 September 2005 By Millersmad Staff
The Internet Millers take on Darlington in an IFA league match down at Herringthorpe this Saturday morning. It is the Millers second league game of the season and they will want to build on their opening 4-3 victory against local rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

With Gillingham unable to bring a side up north and Mansfield unable to host Darlington, IMFC offered to host the lads from Darlo. The two teams have never met in the league before but IMFC have tasted victory against Darlington at Worldnet in the last 16, running out 2-0 winners in the 30 minute match.

It’s sure to be a different game this time around with both sides having fresh legs and looking for a result. In their opening game of the season Darlington drew 1-1 with Grimsby who have improved significantly over the past couple of seasons.

Darlington Match
The Millers beat Darlo 2-0 on their way to Worldnet glory

At times in their last match, against the Owls, the Millers looked a little disjointed and should have run out much more comfortable winners than the 4-3 scoreline suggested. New manager Andy Parker will be looking for the lads to build on that result and put in a good solid performance with a little more fluidity in their play.

Squad wise the Millers are nearly full strength. The notable exception is Jammer who will be missing after a long run in the squad. However, new player Scott will be looking to impress the IMFC manager in a trial run for the Millers.

On a sad note it will be Symon’s last game for the club for a while. Symon has been one of the most committed players to IMFC and at a young age has notched up a number of appearances and some classy goals. With age on his side Symon has the talent to do well in whatever future football he takes up.

With a busy schedule coming up over the next few months Andy Parker will want some good performances from the lads to stake their place into the future. We warmly welcome the Darlington lads to Rotherham for the first time and hope they have an enjoyable day.
