QPR have had an embarrassing season finishing 3rd in the IFA League and getting knocked out of Worldnet at the group stages and unrest in the camp has been simmering for some time. Jordan's one year tenure was plagued with lack of harmony in the dressing room and a regular presence of designer quality handbags on the field and eventually the pressure got too much as he handed his resignation in.

Burns, meanwhile has just left his post as the most successful Internet Millers manager of all time after he led the team to Worldnet 2005 glory and the 2005/06 IFA league title as he wanted to pursue other avenues in his career and has been at the top of QPR's wish list for some time. The QPR captain Tina, has formed a particularly close friendship with Burns and since Jordan's exit, the defender has been seen holding an all night vigil on Burns' doorstep in the hope of persuading the 8ft 2” striker to join them. One on looker said: “Things were getting a bit desperate. He slept in his front garden and every hour or so he would be shouting through the letterbox ‘Burnsy, please. We need you brother'. Eventually the police came and we could get some sleep”.

Many people questioned Burns' loyalty to Rotherham when he joined QPR on a trip to Barcelona and was spotted on a yacht with officials and it is widely rumoured that Burns was offered a deal to take over immediately. However, he chose to see out his contract at Rotherham leaving many QPR players and fans in dismay.

It is believed that QPR are preparing an official approach for Burns and it is expected that he will once again discuss contract details. The ex Rotherham man was spotted yesterday afternoon asking for a lift to London, where he planned to meet up with Tina and Juzza at a Beer Festival but he could not find suitable train times. An official statement from Burns' website said: “Talks are at an advanced stage. I have a great relationship with the guys already and the adulation I receive from Tina makes me think I have a great career ahead of me in London. I know I could do a job for them. They have lacked that edge up front for as long as I can remember. Juzza also knows I can do a job sat on the IFA list all day.”

On the back of this news, replica shirt sales have gone through the roof at QPR's club store in the Linford Christie Athletics Stadium, where the team train. A spokesman said “Steve will be our biggest ever signing”.
