Internet Millers vs Hull Review

Last updated : 08 March 2005 By Denti

Windy conditions once again greeted us for a rematch with Hull that we needed to win after handing them a draw earlier on in the season after being 5-3 up. However it was not as severe as the previous week and we took the lead kicking uphill against the wind. A free kick was played in to the near post and Lee hooked the ball past the keeper to score against the run of play. We knew Hull were handy and they soon equalised when a defensive mix up led to their striker who made no mistake, firing past Dave in the net. We were keen to get in at half time level so we can have the advantage of the weather without a deficit so it was great to take the lead. Great play on the wing by Jammer enabled him to get a shot in, the keeper spilled it and JV was on hand to put the rebound away to give us a 2-1 lead at half time.

It didn’t take long for our advantage to be pressed home even further as Chris Grist fired home after the keeper and his Teflon non stick gloves dropped JV’s cross. Hull struggled to get out of their half so it came as no surprise when our fourth goal went in. Chris Grist will be claiming it but his shot took a big deflection and sent the keeper the wrong way. The game was now won so we made several changes which gave Denti the chance to make an appearance after his stint in hospital. He capped off his return in superb style after Grist turned provider by sending him clean through and Denti made no mistake against the on rushing keeper. Hull managed a late consolation after another defensive mix up but there was to be no repeat of the comeback in the first game. A super win.
