Internet Millers Internet News- Issue 1 (w/c 1st Aug)

Hello readers and welcome to the very first edition of ‘Internet Millers Internet News’, your new, fortnightly/weekly news update containing all things Internet Millers. Throughout the year we will be keeping you updated with fixtures, results, match information, social events and general snippets of information.

The basic aim of this is to spread the word of IMFC to our own players who don’t check the forum, to potential new players and fans and also to the fun loving people of www.rotherhamunited.co.uk. I’m your host, JV, let’s get this party started.

New Captain Appointed

The start of the season has seen new manager, Andy Parker make his first major managerial decision by appointing Denti as the new skipper. Denti has been involved in IMFC since it’s inception and has covered role’s such as team manager, team banker (yes banker!) and general drama queen. Denti, who’s currently the chairman of IMFC, is a real leader on the pitch and was named man of the match in the epic Worldnet final. The news has been met with great delight by certain members of the squad as Denti has promised to introduce a brave new drinking culture in to the squad.

First Game Of Season

IMFC has announced their first game of the season and their first as Worldnet Champions. The game is against fierce rivals Sheffield Wednesday and is on Saturday August 13th at Hooton Lodge when the Millers are away at Chesterfield. IMFC will be looking for a good start to the season where they will be hunting a top five league finish and Wendy’s will be wanting to avenge two defeats last year. If you haven’t confirmed availability yet please get on the forum or get in touch with relevant people. Remember you have until the end of Thursday 11th to confirm your availability. To any fans who want to come along and see a team of champions then kick off is at 10.30pm which should leave plenty of time to get to Saltergate.

Worldnet Commemorations

Several plans have been put in place to commemorate our historic Worldnet victory. A replica of the trophy is going to be made as well as a special edition Internet Millers ‘winners shirt’. Also production has already begun on Internet Millers FC badges and will be available to buy soon. All profits go to IMFC funds so feel free to grease our palms with your silver. Full details will follow. Also any player who was at Worldnet is entitled to have the trophy at their abode for a period of time. Please be wary though that any damages inflicted on the famous silverware will be repaired with the cost coming out of your pocket!

IMFC To Stay At Belvedere

Having been in negotiations with RUFC about being housed in the Tivoli club after IMFC games and before the ‘big boys’ games it has been announced that the Internet Millers will stay in The Belvedere on Moorgate. Both IMFC and RUFC are keen to strengthen links but the situation is not feasible for either party for various reasons so plans have been shelved for now. It is expected that IMFC will stay in The Belv until the new stand is built.

Pitch Parade?!?

Following our Worldnet glory it was arranged with RUFC that we would parade our trophy around the pitch so that we all received our 15 minutes of fame and attained God like status with the Millmoor faithful. However, these plans were put in jeopardy after an initial lack of interest. The team have since rallied though and our parade will go ahead at half time of this Saturday’s match against Walsall. Arrangements have yet to be finalised so please keep checking the forum for details. Depending on the half time score, some of us may be required to don the kit and play for the main RUFC team so bring your boots.

Also, we appeal to the kind hearted nature of the Rotherham fans to leave the tomatoes and rotten eggs at home. Bill Corby has got the pitch looking like a carpet; we don’t want to be held responsible for ruining the pitch!!

More Media

Having recently appeared in everybody’s favourite local rag, the Advertiser, IMFC are back in the media spotlight in the forthcoming week. Articles are due to appear in the RUFC Matchday Programme and Rotherham United’s one and only fanzine, Moulin Rouge. Make sure you buy a Moulin Rouge, great magazine you know. Only a pound. And no, it’s not the bloody programme.

New Players

As we head towards the new season, we are looking to recruit new players to our squad. Anyone is welcome, all we ask is that you are a Rotherham fan and that you have regular access to the Internet, both of which are likely to be the case if you’re reading this! Of course you also have to be able to perform on a football pitch! If you are interested check out our forum at www.internetmillers.co.uk.
