INTERNET MILLERS INTERNET NEWS- ISSUE 2

Welcome to the second edition of ‘Internet Millers Internet News’, it’s good to be back after a slightly longer than anticipated gap. That’s because there was no news to give you but we have been back in action since and here’s all the latest news.

Millers Make Winning Start

Having made more work of beating Sheffield Wednesday than they should have done, the Millers continued on the winning track at the weekend when they breezed past Darlington. The north east team stopped off on the way down to Mansfield, where their senior team were playing and arrived in good spirits at Herringthorpe.

However, they were soon put to the sword as a rampant Millers team, playing an untried formation ripped them apart at will. Some great, flowing, attacking football was played but it took the home side until about the half hour mark to open the scoring. Burnsy went on a mazy run beating at least three players before hitting home, with a little help from a defender. Rotherham continued to pressure and furthered their lead when Gaz crossed superbly right on the head of new skipper Denti who hit unchartered territory by seeing the net bulge with a thumping header.

Gaz was pulling all the strings in a midfield three and went close to scoring on two occasions before he did eventually net his first goal of the season when a shot from the edge of the area was deflected passed the helpless keeper. 3-0 and nothing more than the electric Millers team deserved in what was one of the best halves of football in IMFC’s history.

Wholesale changes were made and a subsequent change of formation but that did not affect the pattern of the game and it didn’t take Rotherham long to grab their fourth and Burnsy’s second. A great ball was whipped in by Gaz and Burnsy got in on the blind side of the defender and nipped the ball home before getting clattered by the keeper. That was the end of Burnsy’s game but his absence proved immaterial as the Millers continued to pelt Darlo’s goalmouth with attacks. Missed chances and poor final balls delayed the scoring for a while until JV eventually grabbed the fifth and his first of the season. He was fed the ball on the edge of the area and beat three men before eventually slamming the ball home through the keeper’s hands. Despite more dominant play that was the end of the scoring and a comfortable 5-0 victory for the Worldnet champions.

Forthcoming Fixtures

The Millers renew their rivalries with Nottingham Forest on Saturday morning in what should be a keenly contested game. Rotherham beat Forest on the way to the Worldnet final in the summer but prior to that Forest had endured great success over the Millers. The Champs will be taking an almost full strength squad to the Midlands, with the exception of leading scorer Steve Burns.

The majority of the boys will then go on to watch the senior team in the afternoon

The next game after that will be a local derby against Barnsley, which will occur AFTER the main game due to the lunchtime kick off. We’ll be with you again before then so will keep you informed.

Social Event

With there being no action on the pitch for three weeks after the Forest match, we will be getting the action started off the pitch as we have a social event. The majority of the squad will be heading out for a meal on Friday 23rd September. If you’re a player that’s already going please make sure you get your meal ordered by the 19th. The menu is online at our forum, so get checking.

If you’re a fan, we’ll be heading in to town afterwards so beware!!

New Equipment

We were fortunate enough to be able to buy some new nets, clips, pegs and corner flags recently thanks to a kind donation of £100 from Dave Hobson. The contribution is greatly appreciated and means we still have a healthy cash flow.

New Players Required

We are still on the look out for new players in all positions. Anyone is welcome, all we ask is that you are a Rotherham fan and that you have regular access to the Internet, both of which are likely to be the case if you’re reading this! Of course you also have to be able to perform on a football pitch! If you are interested check out our forum at www.internetmillers.co.uk.
