Internet Millers fail in treble bid.

On a wet pitch in Bury it was the Millers who started the better and took an early lead thanks to a close range effort from Lee Sentance. They continued to ask questions of Preston but couldn't get the second goal and Preston hit back after Jebu failed to clear a corner and could only watch as he mis-kicked the ball in to his own goal.

This gave a young and energetic Preston side impetus but Rotherham managed to get to half time level. The Millers have walked away with the league this season and have performed well against pretty much everyone they have faced. This was not a good performance though and despite having a stonewall penalty turned down it was Preston who bossed the second half. It looked as if one more goal would win it and Rotherham had a great chance to snatch one on the counter attack but Burnsy missed an opportunity he normally takes without thinking about it.

From the resulting goal kick Preston played a long ball that was missed by Paul Ell, allowing the Preston striker to race through and score. The Millers' heads dropped and they soon conceded a third as after a fine save by Duds in goal, the ball fell straight to a following up Preston player.

With 15 minutes left Rotherham threw everything forward and eventually had a penalty awarded for a foul on Burnsy, which Jammer stuck away with ease. There was real hope that the boys could push on but a tight defence, along with poor attacking quality and quick Preston forwards saw us concede a fourth and killer goal on the counter attack.

Having beaten two of the strongest teams in the competition to get to the semis Rotherham will be disappointed that they lost to a team that they

should have beaten. To make things worse for Rotherham there were some unsavoury scenes on the sideline with Preston invading the pitch to goad our players and with other incidents occurring, they gave the IFA, which is all about building relationships with other teams' fans, a bad name.

With one league game left the Millers will now concentrate on securing the title and then head back to Leeds hoping to regain the Worldnet title, which they won last July before the team faces a summer overhaul with several key personnel leaving.
