We always like to play games but are ruing the blank weekends even more so considering how we are flying in the league. With a record of played four and won four, having scored 17 goals, we are really keen for a run of games.

The fixture list computer is to thank for the sparseness of potential fixtures and a few late pull outs from opposition also hasn’t helped. Luckily our league season runs in to July so we have plenty of time to accumulate our 20 league games, which is the maximum we are allowed to play and will have a healthy run of games following Christmas.

Luckily we have a run of games before Christmas as well and will hopefully make our challenge for the league known. We are definitely pencilled in for a game at Barnsley before the afternoon fixture later this month. We have a great record over the Tykes so hopefully we can continue our good run and avenge the first team’s recent defeat. We have also got games against Leicester and Sheffield United lined up.

Meanwhile there has been no further news of our IFA Cup draw following rumours that it was to be redrawn as the scheduled format had left most people scratching their heads. Therefore we are still awaiting two games to be played before we can make any plans for our second round fixture.

Finally, the squad received a real boost this week with the return of our right back, Gilby, following a stint in Iraq. Gilby has been serving the nation proud out near Basra since April and has thankfully returned safe and well. His departure coincided with our late season flop last year, where we lost our last four competitive games so he’ll be keen to get back and show us what we’ve been missing!
