We had tanned them 8-0 in the corresponding fixture early in the New Year so were expecting a fairly easy ride but with top scorer and goal machine Burnsy missing it was a chance for others to make an impact.

On a breezy morning, we started strongly, kicking with the wind, and threatened to make hay. It didn't take us long to take the lead when Lee was on hand to hit the ball home following a scramble in their box. We soon doubled that lead when make-shift striker Jebu chipped in from an acute angle after the keeper had dropped a JV cross. The same combination made it three not long after when Jebu finished neatly from JV's headed pass.

Half time came and went and with the wind at their backs Tranmere made us work a bit without ever testing our defence. We tightened our grip on the game with a great piece of pacy counter-attacking football. Yeard won a tackle on the edge of the area and passed to JV who was just inside his own half. He made headway and got to the by-line before pulling back for John who slotted home from 8 yards out. A great goal.

Tranmere were performing a little better and got on the scoresheet when their midfielder ran through our defence and shot home from the edge of the area. There was to be no comeback though as we scored again when good work from Jebu on the right set up Symon who smashed the ball home from 12 yards. This knocked the steam out of Tranmere and we controlled the rest of the game having endless chances to further our lead but we could only manage one more when JV nicked the ball of the defender and lobbed the keeper.

Overall an impressive display as we continued our momentum and with other key results going our way, the champagne is on ice in readiness for the completion of the second part of our intended treble!
