Nottingham Forest's 20Questions

Last updated : 16 November 2006 By Bigrich.....

Hello there, Who are yer and how long have you supported Forest?
I'm Murf, I'm 26 and I have supported Forest since I can remember and probably before.

What made you support your club?
Well, I live in a border town, so it was either Forest or D*rby, luckily my Grandad is a Forest fan so I was followed the righteous path. My Dad wanted me to be a Spurs fan, he wanted to call me Osvaldo after Ardiles, luckily I was spared a lifetime of stick by my Mum.

Whats your favorite away day and why?
Going to Derby and Sheffield United gives me the biggest buzz, just the thought of beating such big rivals gives anyone a buzz I s'pose, but some of the best awaydays are the random ones where at least you can have a beer without being escorted everywhere by the police, Swansea and Port vale were a laugh last year, would love to go to Old Trafford again but it could be some time I reckon!

Whats your proudest moment being a Nottingham Forest Fan?
I was 12 when Cloughie left so it's been a rollercoaster since then. Getting promoted to the Premier League in '98 was good, reaching the play-offs 3 years ago was awesome and heartbreaking at the same time considering the team we had. The game vs West Ham after Cloughie died probably gave me the most pride in my team. It was an emotional day.

And your most embarassing / disappointing?
Where do I start! Going down to League 1, the game after when it really sunk in. Losing to Chester 3-0 in the cup last season, losing to Accrington this year, losing 3-0 to Yeovil last year, losing to Woking and Macclesfield last year. The whole Megson era in general, poor football, a poor time for Forest.

So who is your main rival?
Derby! Then Sheffield utd, Liverpool and Leicester.

If Forest was a Song, what would it be, and why?

Whos your all time favorite player, and why?
In my era Stuart Pearce is unbeatable. John Robertson is the only other player that could probably rival him for all time popularity.

However last season the 'Eugen Bopp fan club' was formed by myself and some other forum members to promote the talents of a player we felt underrated and and under utilised, we gained 52 members but it was to little avail as he was let go to some other club at the end of the season, a decision the club will rue in my opinion!

Although a terrace favourite, views were split on Boppy, no one questioned his talent but some questioned his application. He was never a 'Megson' type player as he was able to pass the ball and score goals from midfield, which was agianst the rules under Megsons regime.

Great start to the season, was it expected??
To be honest, the amount of money thrown at the team for this division, yes.

New manager in the summer, how's Calderwood fairing?
Good. Impressed most people, though he does make some odd selections.

Ian Breckin, former Miller! He was good with us, what about you??
Solid but unspcetacular. I'm a big fan, most are, some aren't.

How's the board at Forest doing, is there money to spend?
Depends on who you listen to, Doughty says he will spend when we are in a decent position.
We have spent a lot of money for this league but not for a club of our size/ ticket prices, we would hope for much more investment should we be promoted.

Bopp, Pronounced Oygen or Eugene?? Scared he might have the last laugh come 5pm Saturday??
Oi-Gun, and yes. Our former players have a habit of coming good!

One player from this division you would like in your team, and why?
Eugen Bopp, for obvious reasons! Or maybe Billy Sharp.

Worried about losing any players come the January sales?
Kris Commons could move on but hopefully not, we have no need to sell.

Who's your strongest / Weakest link??
Strong defence and strong attack. Cullip at the back, Tyson up front and Commons on the left are probably our strongest players. The lack of players who can pass in the middle is probably our weakest, particularly Gary Holt in my opinion.

Predicted Line-up?
3-5-2
-----------------------------------Smith----------------------------------
---------------Morgan---------Cullip---------Breckin---------------
Southall---------------------------------------------------------Curtis
----------------------------Holt-----------Clingan----------------------
-----------------------------------Commons---------------------------
-------------------------------Agogo-----Tyson------------------------

Though the hapless Neil Harris may play as he is a Calderwood favourite for some reason.

Predicted Score?
2-1 Forest.

Whos going up??
Forest/Bristol City with Yeovil, Crewe, Swansea and who knows, the form you're in you might even make it!

And finally. Steak & Kidney, Meat & Tatty or Balti??
Balti, all the way.
