20Questions Tranmere (h)

Last updated : 06 April 2006 By Bigrich.....
Who are you, where are you from and how long have you supported your club?

Matthew Jones, 15 from The Wirral and I've supported Tranmere all my life

What was your first game?
My first game was Tranmere 1-0 Luton when John Aldridge scored in the fourth minute

Describe the most memorable and the worst game you have seen and why?
The most memorable is when we beat Bolton 3-0 in the League Cup Semi-Final second leg to progress to Wembley. It was brilliant as a nine year to hear our fans chanting "We're the famous Tranmere Rovers and we're off to Wembley". Nicky Henry's goal that night was sensational and it really started the ball rolling.

My worst memory as a Tranmere fan is either walking away from Prenton Park after we'd lost to Nottingham Forest, then hearing the fans chant "Tranmere Till I Die". Me and my Dad just knew this meant we had been relegated to Division 2 (as it was then) in the 2000/01 season.

Who are your current local rivals and why?
Wrexham are our local rivals but I'm not really sure why. The main club we hate are Bolton Wanderers but they're not local!

Taylor
Who are the best and worst players you have seen?
The best Tranmere player I have seen, in my opinion, is Ryan Taylor (now Wigan Athletic). he was just amazing down the right flank. Couldn't half tackle, cross, shoot, you name it he could do it.
The worst ever has got to be Kevin Gray, he was awful.

How did you fare last season?
Last season we finished 3rd and lost in the play-off semi-final on penalties too Hartlepool.
It was a good season for us as I feel we played attacking football but we couldn't close out games and lost something like 26 points after leading games, that's what cost us.

Where do you think you'll finish up this season?
I think we'll finish about 15th as we have quiet a difficult run in with teams like Forest,Colchester and yourself.

If Tranmere were a TV personality, who would it be and why?
I really haven't a clue. Somebody who gets so close but then blows their chance.

Which team do you want to beat this season the most and why?
I wanted to beat Swansea because I think their fans are a bit too big headed and they seem to think they are the best thing since sliced bread but we only took one point off them.

So what do you think of The Millers?
I don't know much about them as I don't think Tranmere have ever played them twice in a season since I've been supporting them, but I'd like to see them stay up as it's a close trip so nice and short for us plus I really hope they get the money they need (along with the £1,000,000 they have already recieved). Good luck with that, I'll try and donate a bit!

Which current or former Millers player has impressed you the most?
Deon Burton impressed me with his goals but you've lost him now so I suppose it'll have to be that Forte.

Little
Are you happy with your chairman and board members?
No, I feel they shouldn't have sold Iain Hume on deadline day in August and should have given Brian Little some more money.

Hows things gone since our meeting at the new year??
Pretty well, some good wins over the likes of Huddersfield, Port, Chesterfield and Swindon whilst we've also got some decent results away to Yeovil and a good draw with Southend at home.

With just a few games left, whats your overall view on this season?
A poor season for Rovers. They sold or released something like 14 players from last season which cost them big time as they never replaced them and, low and behold, we are down in a bit of trouble at the bottom of League One.

What sort of line up can we expect from you?
Hopefully 4-3-3 again, Wilson in goal, Raven, Sharps, Jackson and Roberts across the back, a midfield of O'Leary, McAteer and Jennings with Facey, Zola and Greenacre upfront.

Who's your strongest/weakest link?
I feel our most important player are Steven Jennings, Calvin Zola and Chris Greenacre. Our weak link is probably our goalkeeper but Wilson has had some good games.

What's your predicted score?
2-2 (can't expect 2 much)

Who's going up?
erm...Southend, Brentford and (sticking my neck on the line) Oldham.

Who's going down?
MK Dons, Swindon, Walsall and Hartlepool

And finally….Meat and tatty, Beef n Onion or Balti?
Meat and tatty
