20Questions - Yeovil Town FC

Last updated : 30 November 2006 By Bigrich.....
Hello there, Who are yer and how long have you supported Yeovil?

Martyn Lucas, I'm a Moderator on the green room, I've attended Yeovil games since 1986 when I was 10.

What made you support your club?
I'm a Yeovil boy, born and breed here. So Yeovil choose me!

Whats your favorite away day and why?
Have been on 3 European Pre-season Tours which are slightly different to the 'usual' away days.

Whats your proudest moment being a Yeovil Fan?
Saturday 9th August 2003, Spotland, Rochdale. Our first ever Football League game after 108 years of trying to get there. I was a proud fan that day thinking of all the thousands of Yeovil fans over those 108 years who wished they could have seen it in their lifetime. And I was one of the lucky ones who got to see us play League Football and I'm proud still to this day to follow Yeovil all over the country for the fans and players who missed out on this opportunity over the years.

In the bar before hand the friendly barmaid asked one guy ?Took you long to get here?? 108 years! was the reply. Although they wont admit it, I think a couple tears were shed at that comment as people realized we had made it!

So who is your main rival?
This season, Bristol City. Our old manager joined them and took 7 players and staff with him. Add to that they don't like the little pub team down the road daring to be in the same league as them. Traditionally, Weymouth or Bath City.

If Yeovil was a Song, what would it be, and why?
Green Disease by Pearl Jam. Obviously we play in green, and like a Disease now we're here you aren't getting rid of us easily!

Whos your all time favorite player, and why??
He was only here for a season but Bartosz Tarachulski. A Polish Striker who played for us in the ?04/05 season. Simply heads and shoulders above any target man we've ever had at Yeovil. A big fans favourite as well.
One of the only players I've seen who would acknowledge the crowd's 'Give us a wave' chants during the game!

Whats the view on the Manager?
Plesantly surpsrised. Was not happy at all when we first appointed him, but now our Russ has turned out to be a good choice by the club.

Are you suprised with the good start you've had?
Of course. After last season where we struggled until the last 2 games when we moved upto 15th, I thought this season was going to be better but not by much. So to have spent as long as we have near the top end of the table
has been great.

Have your expecations for the season altered with the good start?
Not at all. As someone said on the green room this week Raise your hopes, not your expectations.? I expected to finish higher than last season. I'd be thrilled with a playoff spot.

What the hell went off in your Somerset Cup game??
Just some little chavs. The 'Monkey see Monkey do' saying was invinted for them after the recent incidents at some Premiership games. A County cup game, and they think it?s clever to throw coins at our keeper. Idiots.

One player from this division you would like in your team, and why?
Based on players I?ve seen, Caleb Folan. We miss a big man up front in my opinion. Folan gave our defence trouble all game up at Chesterfield. We pulled off the biggest robbery since the Great Train Robbery to nick a point that day. I hear the Chesterfield stewards are still looking for the 2 points they lost?.

Leon Best
You seem to have quite a few loan players in, whats the lowdown on them?
Martin Brittain, Winger from Ipswich. Speedy and tricky. He?s here for 2 more months. Has made a good impression. Wouldn?t be disappointed if we could get him premenantly.

Martin Cranie, Central Defender from Southampon. Originally born and raised in Yeovil. England Captain at Under 18 and 19 level. Looks good in the games I?ve seen him so far.

Leon Best, Striker, has also just joined us from Southampton, only played 45 minutes so too early to give an opinion.

Worried about losing any players come the January sales?
Any team the size of Yeovil has to be slightly worried about losing their better players. I think we?ll keep hold of them, but losing Chris Cohen is a worry.

Who's your strongest / Weakest link?
Strongest, and we hope he?s back soon. Captain Marvel himself, Terry Skiverton.
One game short of 300 games for us. Which puts him in the top 20 highest appearances for the club, and only one other player in that list has played in recent times for the club. So to nearly all present supporters he is Mr Yeovil. The team miss his leadership when he?s not there.

Weak link, we lack a big man up front. But hopefully Leon Best will provide that for us.

Predicted Line-up?
451 Formation. Mildenhall in goal. Defence (l-r), Jones, Cranie (Skivo if fit), Forbes, Lynch. Midfield, Davies, Cohen, JP Kalala, Terry, Brittain.
Best up front.

Predicted Score?
1-1.

Whos going up??
Forest and Scunny.

And finally. Steak & Kidney, Meat & Tatty or Balti??
Pasty!
