20Questions - Oldham Athletic

Last updated : 24 September 2006 By Deano
Hello there, Who are yer and how long have you supported Oldham?
Hi i go by the name of Timashuck and been a season ticket holder for Oldham for 7 years. Missed the glory premiership years unfortunatly. Started going away last season doing 43 of the 46 and done 10 of the 11 games in all competetions this season.

What made you support your club?
My auntie and uncle taking me to games when i was 6/7 and it just stuck. Never stopped since.

Whats your favorite away ground and why?
Yeovil have a special place as it was my first proper game watching us home and away. Huddersfield because its a derby with good banter. Probs have to say Forest though. Their fans above you all 17000 of them. To win their on a tuesday night like we did made it special.

Whats your proudest moment being a Latic?
Like above being one of the 446 at Forest made it proud and one of the best nights of my life. Also beating local rivals city 1-0 in the cup in 2004 was pretty special.

And the worst or most embarassing?
Going 7 without a win at the back end of last season when we was in the play offs. Being held by Burton, Barrow and Chasetown in the FA cup have been bad but we have always got through the reply so its not that bad.

So who is your main rival?
We only sing about City and United at games. Huddersfield are maybe our biggest rivals at the moment. Blackpool and Tranmere you could also say but any latic would tell you huddersfield away is the main away game of the season.

If Oldham was a Song, what would it be and why?
You and Me Forever. Feels like a bond at the club and the fans, after the summer of 2003, shall fight on together forever. Also blue da ba dee as everything at Oldham is blue.

Whats the one thing you would change about your club?
Hmm tough one cant think of much things. Probably switching ends. Home fans in the RRE and Away fans in the chaddy end. The noise accustics are amazing in the RRE end but in the Chaddy we sing our hearts out and the players/away fans can hardly hear us. People dont want to move as the chaddy end is the tradition.

Eyres - veteran in midfield
Who's your all time favorite player and why?
Cant name 1 theirs a few. Tony Carss and Paul Murray were maybe my favourites. Have to go Murray if anybody also wore his heart on his sleeve. Key player during a difficult time gave everything to the cause. David Eyres is another

Favourite current player in your squad?
Cant really decide on this one either. Wellens was last season with him on my shirt. This season Warne and Liddell have become players i like as at the start of the season everyone was slating them i carried on supporting them so they have a bit of favoritisum. Lastly and id have to say favourite player because of his loyalty - Will Haining best defender in this league on his day. Homegrown, could of left us in 2003 but stayed with us could easily be playing at a higher level. Dogged by injuries last couple of seasons but a regular this term is why we have conceded just 2 in 5 home games.

Thoughts on the gaffer?
What can i say. Has come in at the start of this season, three or four signings and he has us playing the best football ive seen. We would be 5th if it wasnt for 2 last minute goals but you have to forget these things. Performance at Forest best ive ever seen Latics play. He has them working as a unit and playing with pride. Captured two great signings in Charlton and McDonald. He is providing exiciting football and the results are starting to come. The best thing he has done is getting the players to show heart and play with pride

Realistic hopes for the season?
Promotion. Watching us play last few games we cant beat anyone on our day. Only think we have deserved to lose 1 game this season. All of our defeats have also come by a 1 goal margin in the league. Cant see why we cant be up their cup May.

Who's your strongest / Weakest link?
Cant single anyone out. The defence is looking awesome all the backline. Midfielder is playing well and Porter is scoring up front. Watch out for Wellens (7) and McDOnald (15) in the middle if anyone.Eardley (35) at Right Back is only a young player already attracted Liverpools attention Weakest id say our young winger Taylor and Porter up front 4 games ago but since
then no-one has been weak.

Any famous fans?
Mark Owen and Michelle Marsh.

How are the former Millers players still there doing?
Swailes still injured out for 7 months or something. Should retire hardly played for us in last two seasons. Warne runs his heart out every game yet to score this term though.

You are on a good run at the minute, but we've beaten you the last three outings, thoughts on the game on Tuesday?
We are on a good run and as i said if we play like we did on saturday i cant see us losing to you but you look at "bogey" sides because we are Bradfords and Gillinghams ( beaten them 7 out of 7 times ) and it does put another perspective on it i think. Worst performance ive ever seen was at Millmoor last season when we lost 2-0 no heart or passion. In the cup this season i
came to Millmoor and i thought you looked a decent side. You would be equal on points with us if it wasnt for your point reduction so it should be a decent game but if we carry on the way we have been playing we will win.

Who's your most improved player so far this season do you think?
Chris Porter back from injury bagged 5 in his last 3 games and looking more lively in attack.

Home or away games, which do you prefer?
Away by a mile.

Predicted line up and score for Tuesday night?
-----------------------Pogliacomi----------------------
Eardley --- Haining ---------- Stam ------ Charlton-----

Liddell --- Wellens -------McDonald ------ Taylor ------
----------- Porter ----------------------- Warne

3-1 latics, Hoskins to score for you.

And finally, meat and tatty pie or steak and kidney?!
steak and kidney

Hope you have a safe journey down on tuesday and enjoy your visit. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Thanks to Timmy for his time from MillersMAD
