20Questions - Norwich City

Last updated : 18 September 2006 By Bigrich.....

Who are yer and how long have you supported Norwich?
My name is Phil Wall and I have supported Norwich all my life(37 years) however been attending matches since I was eight.

What made you support your club?
Norwich is my local club although both my father and grandfather supported Norwich so I had no choice really.

Whats your favorite away ground and why?
I have been to 79 league grounds but would have to say Readings Madjeski Stadium for atmosphere(if they could fill it), ease to get to(straight off M4), and facilities athough they miss having a few local pubs for pre match banter. Most people would say Old Trafford but with the size of the club and the amount of money they have it should be good. Can I just say that Hull Citys new ground has more toilets and food bars than I have ever seen at a footy ground but the atmosphere just isnt the same.

Mark Robins - Former Canary
Whats your proudest moment being a Canary?
Beating Bayern Munich at their place in UEFA Cup.

And your most embarassing / disappointing?
Embarrasing has to be getting beat 5-0 at Portacabin Rd by local rivals in 97-98 season but the most disappointing has to be the way we played away at Fulham on last day of 04-05 season to come straight back down from the Prem. It was in our hands and our players bottled it which hurt.

So who is your main rival?
Ipshit Town.(sorry, can't bring myself to spell it right).

If Norwich was a Song, what would it be, and why?
Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life because if I didnt I'd have given up years ago.

Whos your all time favorite player, and why?
Peter Mendham(played for Norwich from 1978-1986). In the 267 games he played for Norwich I can not remember one bad game. Mr consistency personified. He is still linked to our club via backroom staff work.

Favourite current player in your squad?
I would have to say Adam Drury. Most fans like Huckerby or Earnshaw or exciting players like that but Adam is definitely our most consistent performer in my opinion. Mind you Lee Croft has made a massive impression on me since arriving from Man City recently so look out Adam.

Thoughts on the gaffer?
This is a very hard question. I feel he is slightly blinkered and some of his tactics and substitutions are often a bit strange, however I respect him hugely after the way he conducted himself last season when all the 'Worthy Out' brigade were about. Glad to see they have crawled back into their holes recently but if we don't start firing again soon they will stick their ugly heads out again no doubt. 'Worthington's Green And Yellow Army'!!!!!

Realistic hopes for the season?
Playoffs. In Robert Earnshaw I believe we have the best striker in our league and if we can only find a big striker for him to play off (Hartson would do Worthy) and keep Huckerby and Croft fit I think we would be too hot to handle up front. Unfortunatley the size and depth of our squad could find us floundering rather quickly if we aren't careful.

Is Delia still on the wine before the game???
Hope so! Opposing fans think it upsets us when they sing 'Lets Be Avin Ya' and all the stuff about Delia's outburst. Not only was it one of the funniest moments I have ever seen, the publicity it brought our club is beyond question(no publicity is bad publicity). Delia should be given the freedom of Norfolk for what she has done for Norwich City Football Club.

Hows Carl Robinson doing?
Do you want him back, buy me a pint and he's yours. See the Weakest Link question.

Huckerby gets alot of stick on occasions, how do you rate him?
Huckerby can be one of the most skillful and exciting players you could ever see but I feel he should come back and help the defence out occasionally.

Last time at Millmoor was a 4-4 thriller, did you make the trip up?
Yes. I have chatted with your forum members on this game several times since we were drawn in the cup and for the atmosphere, its a shame Hucks is not playing, however if Leon Mackenzie did spit in your players face he should be ashamed of himself and sign for Coventry(Oh he has. Yippee).

Are you really bothered about this game, would you care if we knocked you out?
I always want to see my team win of course and its a fair old trip to Millmoor but hand on heart, as long as we come away with no more injuries, I'm happy for you boys to have the result. I'm sure you could do with the money a Prem team could bring lads.

Who's your strongest / Weakest link?
Without doubt our stongest link is Robert Earnshaw as I said earlier, but the weakest link has to be Carl Robinson. I have never seen a player get pushed off the ball so easily and his ability to pass the ball to the opposing midfielders has to be seen to be believed. Robbo, prove me wrong and have a good game for once, please.

We'd love to be back there - your thoughts on the Championship so far this season?
Unbelievably difficult league to get out of this season. There must be 12 teams capable of realistically being in the top two so its going to be a long hard slog.

If you got through, who do you ideally want in the third round?
I really couldn't care as long as we come throught the tie unscathed injury wise. However, I would like to play Everton in a cup match at Carrow Rd and stuff them. Ever since they accused us of being racist fans, even though it was proved we were innocent and they never had the balls to apologise, I love to see the fail at every hurdle.

Preditcted line up and score for the game on Tuesday?
Score prediction would be a Norwich win in extra time after a 1-1 draw at full time. I can't give you a definite line up as we have so many injuries but I would thik it would be something like this: Gallagher, Rossi Jarvis, Docherty, Fleming or Shackell, Colin, Safri, Hughes, Robinson, Henderson, Ryan Jarvis and Mcveigh.

Best of luck and all the best to all your fans tomorrow night. As I am going to watch Orient V Millers on Saturday with one of their directors I'm hoping to get a good idea of what your boys are about. Cheers.
