20 Questions - Chesterfield FC

Last updated : 24 February 2006 By Bigrich.....
Who are you, where are you from and how long have you supported your club?

Paul Fisher, I live in the Inkersall area of Chesterfield

What was your first game?
My first game was 79-80 season versus Exeter City which we won 3-0 although as a 4 year old I can’t remember that much.

Describe the most memorable and the worst game you have seen and why?
The most memorable game was the FA Cup Semi Final matches against Middlesbrough even the replay defeat it was still wonderful to see so many people support us…oh how I wish they would come back. The worst game was the 2-1 home cup defeat to Enfield in 1999 simply awful match in front of around 2000 odd fans with Enfield being some 3 divisions below us.

Who are your current local rivals and why?
Mansfield Town are our Local Rivals, and since the last twenty questions nothing much has changed. There still crap. Political History has taken over locality for reasons to dislike in recent times.

Who are the best and worst players you have seen?
Kevin Davies was the best player I have seen for his age, and the worst player was simply Wade Falana yep that was his name he came he missed he got dropped, although Jean Jacques Misse-Misse will get mentioned in other quizzes.

How did you fare last season?
Last Season was a Season of triumph, having departed early in all competitions last season (we even let you beat us thanks for that) we decided to concentrate on the league and at ties we held our own till Christmas where the wheels fell off and we scraped results and finished lower-mid with 57 points so overall not bad and a good platform for this season.

Where do you think you’ll finish up this season?
Hopefully PlayOffs, realistically just outside, still a marvellous season to date.

If Chesterfield were a TV personality, who would it be and why?
Last Season I mentioned Claude Greengrass, this season Tim Henman always flattering to deceive

Which team do you want to beat this season the most and why?
This Season we have wanted to beat Nottingham Forest the most as the bigger clubs decide to mix it with the smaller it’s always good to see them fall on their backsides

So what do you think of The Millers?
In a bit of turmoil to put it politely, if it’s hard to understand as a neutral it must be more annoying to be a millers fan, every day your waiting for vital news to come and see how the club is progressing, to be honest the off field problems have dominated the on-field turn up in form which is evident I hope you pull out of the situation. Sometimes they say it’s good to get relegated to rebuild and re-assess, I very much doubt this is the case with Rotherham

Which current or former Millers player has impressed you the most?
Martin Butler really he started playing well again bagging two last weekend I see, it’ll be interesting to see how Will Hoskins is doing these days after now playing for almost two years.

Are you happy with your chairman and board members?
Yes we are happy with the chairman of the football club board and we are happy with the supporters board that own the football club. The only thorn issue with us is the possible ground move, it’s too much of sore point to go through now. Things are happening at a slow pace, but tortoise and hare and all that……..

Chesterfield have had plenty of their own financial Problems, hows it going down there?
Financially we are still in the deep, but with the help of the Local Borough Council and several debentures we have against Saltergate (we still own it) it’s sustainable debt and a kind of mortgage. We can’t afford much hence the reason why we are kicking off this week about the £500 we have spent for an appeal against a sending off offence. If we didn’t think it would get overturned we would not have spent the money.

Given the info in the media, how do you feel we'll manage with our problems?
If you can turn the debt into a kind of loan payment then maybe you can survive, to be honest the finance side of Rotherham is a bit hard for an opposition fan to understand, do you own your own ground? Why have you not gone into administration? Surely the deadline could have been a bit longer given the situation you were in before Christmas? These are the questions which I’m sure have been answered.

What sort of line up can we expect from you?
A weak one with the entire defence inc.goalkeeper either injured or suspended then you can understand why we are concerned recently we have played one up front away from home because we have a very good midfield I would expect that on Saturday.

Who’s your strongest/weakest link?
Strongest Link at the Back has been Steve Blatherwick, Midfield Mark Allot and the Chief up front sadly the first two will be playing. Weakest Link has been the occasional lapse in concentration which has resulted in a goal.

What’s your predicted score?
0-0

Who’s going up?
Southend, Swansea, and Huddersfield

Who’s going down?
Milton Keynes Dons, Yeovil, Bournemouth and Hartlepool

And finally….Meat and tatty, Beef n Onion or Balti?
Has to be a Balti…lovely
