We're all elated - Knill

Speaking at the post-match press meeting, Knill said, "We're all elated, but we've been saying that it was coming (the win) and fortunately for us today was the day."

"I thought first half especially we played pretty well, we hit the bar twice before we scored, I thought we controlled the game. Second half they set about us a little more and came at us. Deon scored a great goal to make it two, even though the Ref gave them a pen we hung in there with some really good performances."

The ref gave a really soft penalty for handball against Gregor Robertson, asked if he thought it was a penalty Alan said, "It is cos he gave it, but I can't see how Gregor can pull his hand out of the way. That said he may have given the claim before so it evens itself out."

"The second goal is where we've been struggling, we've had the first goal plenty of times but you need that second to kill the game and today Deon got it, it was a great goal. In the first half he's hit the bar, he is a top quality player."

"Deon has scored 12 goals and hes a confidence player. Deon is happy when he's scoring goals, and he is doing. His contribution this season has been really good to the team. Deon will shoot weherever he can."

"I think the last week has been a wake-up call, and unfortunately it took the manager leaving for the players to realise the predicament we are all in, we dont like being down there, I don't and nobody else does. We were 3rd from bottom, it takes a massive effort to get out of that, and today we did that."

"You can't worry about other teams and what they get, all you can worry about is your own team and performance. If you perform well you will climb the league."

Knill was asked if the win would make him pet himself forward for the vacant managers job, "No, I'm just employed to do the job of caretaker manager, and thats what I'm gunna do. The board will do what they have to and pick the next manager, at the moment I'm happy doing what I do." Knill said.

Looking forward to the next game against Huddersfield at Millmoor, "Tough, very tough. Theyre a good team and one of the best teams I've seen in this league this year, I've seen them 3 times and been impressed. But every team can beat every team in this division and if we put in a performance like that against Huddersfield then it will be a close one."

And with that, We bid you a Merry Christmas, I'm now off to get pished to celebrate.
