We need to kill off teams - Thornber

Last updated : 20 September 2009 By Duke

The Millers claimed a draw against Cheltenham Town at Whadon road this afternoon, they dominated the game and went in front with an Adam Le Fondre goal, only for Julian Alsop to grab a late equaliser for the Robins.

Afterwards Steve Thornber spoke to the offical site about his second game in charge. saying:

"We created enough chances especially in the first half to win the game,"

"We knew what their strengths were before the game but we dealt with them and didn't look like conceding. They then scored with the only threat that they had.

"We need to kill teams off because if you don't you what is coming. We have had some good clear cut chances. Lawsy in the second half was clean through on the 'keeper and he should have put that one away. I don't want to take anything away from the lads because they did really well.

"They have done everything that I have asked today, they have passed the ball better and I thought that was probably our best away performance of the season. It is so disappointing that we have come away with just a point,"

Thornber was pleased with all the side, but picked out a few for special praise saying:

"Nicky Law was lively and bright and he caused them problems all afternoon. I don't want to single Nicky out because they all played well today," he continued:

"Nick Fenton came in and I thought that he was a tower of strength at the back but all the lads did well."

Speaking about the Millers leading scorer Adam Le Fondre he said:

"I believe he is up there with the best in the division. He is so sharp, he has such a low centre of gravity and you only have to work with him to know that he is a really good player."
