We need some belief and desire - Moore

The Millers boss Ronnie Moore rued a couple of mistakes which cost his team in this afternoons 2-1 defeat to Port Vale, but conceded that the whole performance was'nt good enough; "It doesn`t matter who you`re playing, you can`t play for fifty minutes and expect to win a game no matter who your playing. We've cut our own throats and both the goals were down to unbelievable mistakes. We come alive at 2-0 down, that tempo is what we have been talking about and we have to be at that tempo from the first minute, not the eightieth minute, thats the disapointing thing for me."
"Maybe we were so disappointed at the way the first goal come about but you've got to get on with it. They've conceded a sloppy goal but theres plenty of time for you to get a goal but it concerns you because you just don`t know what turns them on. You look at it, we talk about playing with high tempo, we've got the multiball system but how long did it take us to take a throw-in, when theres a free-kick down how long did it take us to get it down? and the only time we played at a tempo was when the little lad came on (Bell-Baggie). He wants to play, he wants to be a player. He showed no fear and got on it, took people on."

"We`ve got to have our players playing at seven out of ten, soon as they drop to either five or six we aren`t good enough, We're not good enough to sustain any team playing like that. The young one come on, he showed no fear, took people on and played some great balls in and I was well pleased with him. I've just said in there, a 17 year old kid! come on, he wants it, he's hungry enough to play, we aren`t hungry enough to get promoted. That third spot has been there all season. It's there, nobody has put thier hand down and grasped it. We`ve had opportunities and we`ve thrown them away and made it really hard for ourselves. Now the teams below are getting results, the gaps closing, just show no fear and just go. There's been 3500 on the gate today, fear of what?? Fear of making mistakes in front of a crowd? If you can't cope with that then you've got no chance of promotion if you can't play under pressure at home. Don't blame the pitch, it's nothing to do with the pitch, its to do with the mental block that one or two people have."

"It's like a relief people have when we're 2-0 down, its like phew we can play now, just thats what we need to start like, thats what they need, belief, believe they are good enough, believe that third spot is there. We were talking about second spot now not too long ago, we`re talking about third spot and if we`re not careful we will be talking about seventh spot. Now we go to Aldershot and we go and show no fear, nows not the time for fear, anybody playing with fear will be in trouble."
'It`s frustrating when you are playing with two wingers and look how many crosses went into the box, young Baggie`s got on there he`s put how many crosses into the box, good ones as well but who`s in there and got on the end of them? Nobody, Nobody crying out for somebody with a bit of hunger to go and head em in, what about the little flick on the near post thats gone out the back door, we've three lads standing on their heals, anticipation you can`t coach that, you've got have to that, hey he might just flick this and if he flicks it I'm on the front foot to tap it in!. There were opportunities there for hungry and alive strikers to finish today and I don't think they were."

Moore was asked if Bell-Baggie could be in line for a starting place in the team against Aldershot on Monday, Moore said; "He`s got to be. He`s the shining light if you like. He comes on and he's bright, he goes by people,he comes in, he comes into midfield and picks it up runs at people, crosses the ball and had a shot that whistled past the post. That`s what you want, desire, hunger, heart and belief, which we lacked I think for seventy minutes."

"A lot of that team that played today didnt show the hunger and desire and commitment that we need to get out of this division."

Josh Walker again scored from midfield, and although Moore thinks he should shoot more, he's looking at other members of the team to do the same; "How many strikers did the strikers have? We're playing at home, how many strikes have we had? We`re trying to walk things in. I don`t know what it is with them. Take the shot, it might get a deflection or the pitch might just get stood up or get a bump or a bounce, I'm not going to moan at anybody for taking a shot, I encourage them all the time to get the shots and crosses in. But first half every cross found the first man, like I say when it went out of play for the throw in at the other side, at least put it in the right area. And if we don't get on it then we'll have to get people that will get on it."

"You cannot come and play for 70 minutes like we did, It was like we were the side who had nothing to play for. I'm not saying they were brilliant but we've hit the self-destruct button for the 2 goals. Then 1 fifty yard ball over the top caught us and Woggy makes the save. It was so lacklustre in a game where we've got to be on top of the game, roll your sleeves up and show them, If we`ve got to go down, we need to go down fighting, not just lay down and die like that."
