Southend were better in every department - Scott

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the game, Scott spoke of his frustrations; "That was totally unacceptable from start to finish and they were better in every department."

"Regretably and for the first time I've ever had to say it but one of my team's were outworked and outfought and I'm very very disappointed and upset about it and the players are aware of that fact.

"What's annoying is that they (Southend) didn't actually open us up from open play, the first goal came from people not reactly correctly, which we worked on for half an hour yesterday on how they do things, The second goal is from basically what I said three minutes earlier, cos it was 2 minutes into the second half. It was from a throw-in and people not doing their jobs properly, I made the point at half time to all the players.

"The third goal is exactly the same as the second goal, so it tells me one thing that I'm going to have to take on board and that is that the players can't take the information on or carry out whats being asked of them, and if thats going to be the case then the players won't be playing in the side because we've been beaten by a side who are well organised and worked hard, and who were all about set peices and getting the ball forward and they did it well - thats why they've won the game.

"They had players who were putting their body on the lines to make sure not to concede a goal, we didn't see that from us. After what happened last week it is difficult to take and after what we've worked on this week.

"The worst thing for me is that we've got backroom staff and management staff who have worked non-stop since we came into this club to make sure the standards are high and that we work hard every single day.

"All we want back from the players and what the fans and chairman want is to see thier team working hard and putting everything into it. All the work we have done this week has gone to waste because they didnt apply themselves correctly.

"We've conceeded a lot of goals this season, going forward we've looked dangerous but you can't keep conceding the goals we're conceding and you keep working on it and maybe we have to re-assess and not give some players the credit we thought they were due because they're maybe not as good as we think they are or cannot carry out the work we want them to do.

"If we're going to be successful people are going to have to fall by the wayside if they can't step up to the mark." Scott added.
