Scott pleased with Alfie response

Alfie has been in and out of the side recently and had hit a rocky patch of form, but his all round game came together yesterday aswell as his finishing touches as he netted twice to earn the Millers a point after they trailed 2-0 early on.

Scott, who was generally pleased with the teams display apart from the opening 15 minutes or so, gave his reaction to the media.

"The question was asked of Alfie this morning. We went for a walk and he was someone I didn't know how to crack and work out. But, that's going to take time with every player", revealed the boss.

"I asked him for what I felt he could be and asked the question of whether he could do those things for me. I told him that as long as he does it for as long as he can then I don't mind, but not to just drift through the 90 minutes.

"I asked him to show me what player he is and he was fantastic. He's a clever player. When they start to back off he drops into little pockets and when they stay high he goes in behind. He worked his socks off down both channels and he got his rewards."

Scott added: "That's the closest to a full 90 minutes performance we've had but, unfortunately, the first ten minutes were horrific.

"We didn't start well enough but I thought after the first 15 minutes, we were really strong and kept the ball well. Maybe we played too many square passes without going forward but once we got our first goal we looked like a side who would go on and win the game.

"I think we've probably created more good chances today than we have done since I came.

"Aldershot changed their formation to combat us but we still looked very strong and we started the second half in the same vein, once we got the equaliser we felt we could push on but the winner wasn't quite there for us."
