Robbo - They made us work hard for the three points

The Millers moved into joint second in League Two ahead of Saturday's crunch game with the MK Dons, and Robins was under no illusion that yesterday's game would be a hard fought one.

Speaking after the 3-0 victory, he explained: "It was exactly what we expected, they made it very difficult for us as they got bodies behind the ball. In the first half although we were not under any severe pressure, they made us work really hard and at times we didn't have any forwards up the pitch as they were defending.

"So we changed things at half time and tweaked it slightly pushing Ian Ross further up and he did the job better while Mark Hudson is more suited to playing down the middle.

"It was an excellent performance and result especially in the second half when we kept going. In the first half you could see that we have played a lot of games in a short space of time, thankfully in the second half we picked the tempo up.

"We caused them problems after we had hit the bar in the first half, it was pleasing to get that first goal because we knew that they would then have to come out so we were able to pick them off.

"Special mention must be made of Ryan Taylor who has come on and looked electric, he could have gone home with the match ball after hitting the post. It was important that he came on and did well as we lost Chris O'Grady just before the team sheet was handed in as he went down with an illness.

"But that gives the opportunity to other players and I felt Marc Newsham would have the movement to get down the sides, I always felt it would be tight but it just wasn't his day before Ryan came on and lit the place up.

"That's what you are looking for in substitutes. We have to be careful that we don't leave gaps because that's when you get exposed so when we do lose the ball we are back into shape quickly.

"Andy Warrington's kicking wasn't very good today and that could have put us under a bit of pressure but that was a one off and the back four and keeper have been outstanding all season but the special mention has to go to Taylor.

"That applies to Hudson as well as he got on the end of a decent delivery as we had been a bit wasteful when we got into positions at times. We are halfway through the season, there's a lot of games to play and we have to continue the same way and keep picking points up. We are in a handy position going into the game on Saturday."
