Missed penalty cost us - Knill

Speaking at the press conference after the game, a dejected Alan Knill said: "It's an opportunity lost, we miss then penalty and its game on, score it and make it 2-0 its game over. I'm obviously desperately dissapointed."

"I have to say I didnt think we played well all way through the match but sometimes you can't play well and you have to win ugly, buy at 2-0 it would have been over."

"I thought we were comfy first half and came in 1-0 up, Scored a pretty good goal to be fair but I just sensed that we had to win it without playing well because we just couldnt pick the pace up. Fortunately for us first half neither could they."

"We missed the penalty, missed it at a crucial time and all of a sudden they've gone from being dead and buried at 2-0 to having a lifeline, all the set peices we struggled a little bit without Sharps who is a big player for us, every time the ball came into the box it was dangerous for us. We didnt clear it and given them one all. And then you could see it coming, we've seen it time and time again. It's a big learner for a young team."

No more Penalty's!!
Asked about the missed penalty by Michael Keane who took the penalty over other willing players. Knill was not best pleased it seemed.

"It was Michaels idea to take the penalty and we've just had a discussion about it, its fair to say we had words when he came off."

Asked if Knill wanted Keane to take anymore penaltys, "No, I think is the easy answer, There is no place in a football team that wants to go places for indiscipline and thats what we had over the penalty."

"Credit to them, they came out and played a lot better than us second half, we gave them a lifeline by missing the pen and all of a sudden they raise thier game."

"I'm not saying Sharps would have stopped the goal but I think he would have made it easier for us to defend set peices, but all in all the missed penalty has cost us."

Asked if the thought of overcoming the 10 deduction affected the players into thinking it was theirs already, "At 1-0 you dont see why not! and score the pen to make it 2-0 then it would be zero points. But we don't score the pen and they score 2, so I'm desperately dissapointed but theres plenty of games left and I'm sure we can play a lot better than that."
