Millers 2 - 1 Chesterfield - Ronnie's Reaction

The curse has been lifted!
"It's nice to do it (lift the curse) but I thought we were very very fortunate, especially in the first half, because on another day we could have come in two or three goals down at half time."

"I thought we were lucky and on the counter attack we got caught too easily, and no disrespect to Chesterfield, but if that had have been Ipswich we'd have been three or four down, so that needs to be looked into to make sure we don't get caught on the counter attack."

Ronnie was more pleased with the second half performance though, and felt that the Millers did just about enough to warrant winning the game.

"I think in the second half we've had all the chances really. They had a great chance just after half time and Mike Pollitt made a wonderful save, but their keepers made one or two decent saves from Vernazza, and I think overall we probably just about earned it."

Speaking of Chesterfield and the problems that they caused the Millers defence Ronnie commented: "Their pace and their movement was good, and the little lad from Charlton was more like a Rolly Royce! With the pace and the ability he has got he caused Robbie Stockdale some problems, I think they'll be OK this season."

Ronnie was asked if he thought that it was fair to say that the team could perform a lot better than they did, to which he responded: "Without doubt, we weren't at out best and we've sneaked through, but its just nice to get the first win."

The concern over Phil Ghilchrist's injury was talked about with Ronnie saying that he missed the game through injury, but he is hoping to train on Thursday. Paul McLaren is now fit and will be in contention for a place in the near future.

Ronnie was also asked about any news concerning a move for Neil Shipperley, and unfortunately we are no closer to bringing anybody in.
