Millers 0 - 3 Yeovil: Ronnie's Reaction

Under Pressure
“Disappointed is an under statement, livid is probably the word. To have a performance like that, and 3-0 makes it looked like we were tanked. We took a chance with 7 or 8 minutes to go at 1-0 down and we’ve moved Swailsey from centre half and pushed him up front, and you think that the back three can organise themselves and make sure that we don’t get done on the break, but we never got any balls in the box for Swailsey.”

“What can you do as a manger, do you say we’ll leave it at 1-0 and say we’ve lost by a penalty? You’ve got to try and do something positive, and we’ve tried to be positive, but the point was that the back three lads have let themselves down.”

Commenting on the penalty Ronnie said: “I think it was. Macca doesn’t really want to be playing left back, but when Scotty went off we had to move Hursty, so McIntosh had to play at left back, and unfortunately for us he’s been found wanting in that position. I think it was a penalty, but I think we had enough chances in the first half to have at least gone in leading in the game. Then we had a couple of decent half chances in the second half, but we haven’t taken them.”

“You tell me why a side we’ve put out there today can perform against West Ham, Leicester and Millwall, and then play Yeovil and come out second best.”

“I’ll take the flak for the way we’ve played and the result, but one or two of the players need to look at themselves, they haven’t given their all for this football club. One or two went hiding when it went 1-0. We’re playing a team top of the second division, with what we’ve got out there we should be able to steam roll them.”

“A bear 16 players was all we had, so its frustrating for everybody. I can understand why people are complaining, but I’ll tell you now, its difficult to get us on a winning run. We can’t get back to back wins, that’s the big thing for us.”

“Its not nice to lose, but there are ways to lose, and that certainly wasn’t a way to lose. You roll your sleeves up, you fight, you scrap, you scratch for everything, but they’ll be in tomorrow and they’ll train all week and there’ll be no days off. We’ve got a massive game against
Wigan and we’ve lost an awful lot of money, so they’ll (Yeovil) will enjoy that while we get down to some hard work”.

When asked about the crowd leaving as Yeovil scored the second Ronnie commented: “They will because they’re frustrated. As a manager you make a decision, we’re 1-0 down, and we have to make a decision whether to change it. People who haven’t been to the game will look at the scoreline and comment that we lost 3-0, but people who have been at the game will know that they’ve been kidded because they’ve scored in the 87th and 88th minute, and if they sit down and think about the game it certainly wasn’t a 3-0 defeat for us, but the stats are that we’ve lost 3-0.”
