Knill happy with solid performance

And obviously Alan Knill was a happy man with that news, speaking in his post match press conference he was happy with the clean sheet, the Millers first for 8 games.

"I thought it was a solid performance against a tough team, I thought we started really well but then took our foot off the gas but we sorted it out in the second half. At half time I just asked for more tempo, more energy, more athleticism and thats what you get, that's why we sign these young players we don't sign them to act like old men, we sign them to be young and athletic to get round the pitch and that's what we did in the second half. I thought we dominated the game second half."

"At times I wasn't too happy and at other times I was more than pleased, it was a great result, 2-0 at home and we had to put on a performance one way or another at home to try and attract these fans back to Millmoor and there's nothing better than a 2-0 win."

Knilly then went on to praise his defence, "One of the biggest things for us today was a clean sheet. The back 5 were excellent towards the end of the game, they knocked the ball in but we headed it and cleared it and thats what you have to do in this league, the defenders have to defend and leave the rest to the others."

"I have to give a big shout to our Goalkeeper really, he was excellent in the second half, probably not his best first half and you could hear the supporters shouting, but second half he was pretty good, he made a great save, he came out and caught when he had to catch and kicked really well so I'm well pleased."

"First half he looked hesitant but credit to him in the second 45 he was excellent."

"Michael Keane got a knock on his hip and there was no way he could carry on, but at the same time we've got a decent squad here. Martin Woods came on and naturally plays left side and can play central, when he has the ball he keeps hold of it for you."

Asked if Keane's injury could keep him out of Tuesday nights Johnstones Paint Trophy game at Hartlepool, "I'm not sure yet, we'll have to have a look. I think he went in for a challenge and just landed on his hip."

Striker Delroy Facey made his first team return after injury, "Delroy's ok, he played 90 minutes in the reserves and was really tired afterwards, we just thought we needed somebody to get up there and head it, it was a good time to introduce him so its welcome back and now the real work starts."

Speaking about Facey's chance which hit the post late on, "Yeah it was a good move, Ritchie Partridge who looked lively all day dinked a little ball through and Del's got the head on it but it didnt go in."

"I'm delighted with the win, it took a bit of a kick at half time but the good thing is that there was a response. We did the same last week at Port Vale, we said quite a few things at half time and said a few choice words. We did the same today and both games theres been a really good reaction and thats all I can ask for is that if I see something wrong and I tell it that they do somethign about it. It was a very good team performance today."

Asked if he would be making changes for the cup game on Tuesday, "I don't know, I'll have to have a think about it but obviously our main priority is the league. We'll have a look at the injuries and everything else, saying that we have a good squad here but our left back and right back were out of the team today, Bopp will have a scan on his knee on Monday, Keano's injured so its not such a big squad anymore."

"Wiseman took a knock against Port Vale and has kind of struggled with it all week then on Friday he really wanted to play but I called no because I didnt think he was ready, its the same with Bopp. With Bopp he's had a problem with his need, I called him today and said lets get this sorted, so he'll have the scan on Monday and take it from there."
