Knill far from happy as Millers crash out

Knill has vowed to report the referee, Eddie Ilderton, for his performance last night but his own charges were certainly far from at the races.

Talking to www.themillers.co.uk, Knill fumed:" I thought it was pretty harsh on Martin Woods as it looked to me as he was going for the ball, anyone who knows Martin will know he is not that sort of player.

"I'm glad this game is now out of the way so we can concentrate on our league games as this is the most important thing to us all at the moment.

"The referee didn't give us a great deal and I will be writing a long report, I don't think the fact that the referee was local helped, I will be looking at the video of the game and having a close look at the sending off of Martin Woods as it looked to me like a head clash and not a deliberate elbow.

"I am not happy at the appearances regulation imposed for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, I wanted Colin Murdock - a regular last season and a full international - to have 90 minutes on his way back from injury and I wanted to give Gary Montgomery a game in goal But when we spoke to the League, we were told that any players left out would have to have independent fitness reports to confirm they were not fit.

"I would like to have rested a couple and I can't see what's wrong if players starting are experienced players from the first-team squad."
