Judge me with my own team! - Moore

Last updated : 10 April 2010 By Deano

Moore spoke to the press after the 2-0 defeat meant the Millers were unable to take advantage of teams around them also losing.

ronniebig1Moore said: "I'm just saying the same thing at half time and full time. That was disappointing, spineless, is what comes into mind with me. The fans have got a right to moan, if I had sat or stood there and seen some of the performances. I've asked the players to put a shift in, the difference between us and them is we have pea hearts and they have lion hearts, and they had a go.

"It's alright the crowd moaning for me to go, but I've said to the players if you'd all had a meeting and performed like that people would think you were trying to get me out.

"I've picked them I've give them the trust to work their socks off play for Rotherham United, keep us in that play-off position at least, and we go out and perform like that.

"The defending, well, the lad just falls over the line on the back post, on his own, the guy who picks him up goes to sleep, he scores, that's Ronnie Moore's fault, we take a free-kick which was never on, thats Ronnie Moore's fault, we give the ball away when Alfie turns, thats Ronnie Moore's fault.

"Give me a bit of stick when it's warranted, judge me when I've picked the team with my players that come and work their socks off for the club, hopefully the Chairman's ok.

"It annoys me more than anything how quickly supporters can turn, but the performances haven't been good and it's the manager that gets the stick. The back four is the back four and how many times have we said that individual's don't pick their man up they score. I just can't believe a 5' 6" lad scores on the back post, suppose thats my fault as well.

"Players have to take responsibility sometimes, thats what annoys me, and like I have said judge me when they are my players".

When asked about the position the team is in now regarding promotion, and the supporters Moore continued: "The supporters have to get behind us, sometimes it's hard when you see performances like that today, one or two of them did get their heads together and try to get behind us, but you've got to put in performances, you can't legislate for how the team is playing at the moment. I don't think there is a fear factor in there, it's just wrong decisions, individuals make wrong decisions".

Asked who is standing up in the dressing room at the moment and says look we are going to sort this out - Moore said: "Well me, Jimmy, Dibbs, and Warney, we all talk in there, but they are so quiet it's untrue, and if you get a gutless performance like that I would just like one or two to have a pop at each other, but they wait for me to do it.

"Good professional players, they have a go,t hat's what they have, (Morecambe) they have togetherness, 3-1 down and they win 4-3, because they are brave they will have a go, like I said they have lion hearts, they are limited on ability, but what they do have they work as a group. I don't see that in the players that are here."

Looking forward to the Northampton game at Don Valley on Tuesday Moore continued: "Well it's not like you can make ten changes, how do you change the back four ? There are one or two areas that need moving, but it's getting that head of steam up and coming out of the box and creating pressure, thats what we have got to do, at the moment there is a white flag flying.

"We need leaders we need men now, who are going to say hey come on have we got enough in that dressing room to lift them. If you look at the last few games when we have conceded one goal we have conceded another in the next two or three minutes.

"We have keep two banks of four, and keep it safe, and weather the storm, but I've said this the last two or three weeks.

"We had two young ones wide today, when really they should have been tucked in, and the bit of inexperience. they have got showed today."
