Jackett bemoans defensive qualities

The Millers crashed to a 3-1 home defeat to newly promoted Preston North End, speaking to Radio Sheffield after the game, boss Kenny Jackett gave his thoughts.

"I thought Preston started well, got control of the game and got two early goals, It was pretty even for the first fifteen minutes but the goals against column, staying in the game and making sure we have some type of defensive set-up to keep it close has been our problem all season and it was again today."

"At the start of the second period we put pressure on them and got a goal back but they had some quality on the break which ultimately took the game away from us."

"Their goals were very soft. Our ability to block crosses and to get tight to key players is something we've talked about but it wasn't there today. They got control of the game and from there could flood the midfield and break. It's the goals against column that we have to do something about. It knocks all of our confidence out of us when we concede sloppy goals."

"It was a deflator for the stadium after we'd got some momentum going and looked like we could get back into the game and they scored a third."
