I Apologise - Knill

Last updated : 24 February 2007 By Bigrich.....
With the game effecively over by half time as the Millers trailed 3-0, Knill apologised for his teams display.

"That was abysmal and on the behalf of everybody at the football club I apologise for the first half performance, it's not something that I think you should associate with Rotherham United."

"There are no excuses, we prepared for two days and worked on our shape and everything but once again I'm saying the same thing. You can't concede goals like that, especially away from home."

"That first half performance was lacklustre, I cant put words to it. We were second to everything and you dont have to be a rocket scientist to work out that if you do that your going to lose games. This divison is all about winning second balls and we're not strong enough to do that."

"We're missing some quality, but we sold it, we sold our quality and its a big loss to the squad and its taken its toll."

Bopp Dropped, and Injured....
"Anybody who watched the game on Tuesday will understand why i made the changes. Davey (Worrall) has'nt played well for a while so I thought I'd give Theo (Streete) a go. Boppy's the same, he's not played well for a while, he came on and unfortunately he picked up an ijury on his ankle and it looks like he's out for Tuesday."

Asked wether the players were reactive rather than proactive, "Tuesday night we conceded a poor goal early on, and again today we concede a shocker and it just deflates the team. I don't think we're sat back waiting but we're making poor mistakes which make it hard to come back from."

"I had to change the formation at half time, I had to match them up as we couldnt cope with their athleticism in midfield. Everytime we went forward they broke on us, they were more athletic and moved the ball quicker. We had to do something, we had to go straight against it."

"It stemmed the tide but really gave us nothing going forward. But at 3-0, the game was dead and buried." he added.
