Got mixed emotions - Thornber..

"I have mixed emotions after that game, We didn't start very well and I thought we were lucky to go in at half time at 0-0. In the second half we were better." said Steve.

"I asked the full backs to get forward more often and we pressed and worked hard but to be fair Morecambe defended well. It was always going to be a difficult game and they through bodies in front of the ball and blocked shots but the positive aspect is that we have got a point.
"We also got a clean sheet which is always a positive. Yesterday we looked at the next four games and we have set targets and what we can say is that we are ahead of where we were last year. I think we are four or five points better off than what we had last season so come the end of September and the four games we will have another look."

After a poor first half, Thornber expained his half time team talk; "Sometimes you have to make things happen because when teams come to Don Valley they are going to put players behind the ball and make things difficult."

"I said to them at half time that we needed to make things happen and at the start of the second half we saw Pablo make a run forward straight away and we made things happen."

"Nicky Law stubbed a toe before the game so he had to have a pain killing injection. We then had to make a change at half time. Ian Sharps felt his hamstring so obviously that was a problem and we also had to bring him off at half time, Both were a big loss today but we will have a look at them in the week."

Steve now looks forward to next Saturdays trip to Cheltenham; "We touched on things that we could have done better. The lads have told me that we have played worse than that and won. From my point of view I thought we could have passed the ball a little better, especially out from the back. When we did play from the back and switched play I think that we created some good chances."
