First half let us down - Evans

The Millers twice come back from behind to take a share of the points but the gaffer wasnt happy with the first half showing, and gives his thoughts on Daniel Nardiello who came off the bench to score the equiliser but then got himself sent off after the final whistle.

“It wasn’t us, We went long stupidly, we didn’t pass it and our midfield didn’t want to get on the ball. If you’re not playing well, it’s brave to get on the ball. Jumping into tackles, dissent, that sort of thing is the opposite, it’s cowardly, but in the second half we were different and rightfully came back into the game. I’m not kidding myself, we didn’t play well but we kept going and the fans played their part.” Evans told the clubs official site themillers.co.uk

"I thought Shrewsbury had a man extra all over the park today. We didn't start properly and we weren't focused, but in the second half, after we had them in at half time, we settled down and got back in the game."

"Shrewsbury's second goal was offside for me. The ball goes through a ruck of bodies and our keeper made a great reaction save and the boy was on his own when he tapped in and he can only be offside. In the past we would probably have buckled at that, but it was a great ball into the box and a great header by Nardiello."

Nard's picked up an injury in pre-season and made his first appearance of the season coming off the bench; "He came on having not played a minute for three weeks and got us a goal, We can’t just give him 70 minutes because he’ll end up injured again, so we put him on when we had planned. We’ve no reserve game this week because of the cup tie so he’ll be sitting next to me for another week

“He got a second yellow for complaining about his first yellow. I’m not going to criticise him because that will be dealt with in house, as he knows it’s unacceptable.
