Evans disbelief at another home defeat

The gaffer watched his side batter their opponents but slip to their 8th home defeat of the season after once again failing to punish or break down a lower to mid-table side at NYS.

Reflecting on yesterdays game today he spoke to themillers.co.uk and said: "As a manager there will not be many games you lose and you believe your teams performance has been fantastic throughout the match, this was one of those matches.

"We are in football and not in the sport of boxing but had we been the contest would have been stopped in the first-half as we battered the Dagenham goal non-stop. The quality of our play was outstanding, our energy levels were fantastic and if we can play like that for the last 10 matches of the season I will take what comes at the end of it.

"Goals are what win matches though and it has to be said we gave our opposition two goals. Kari Arnason should defend better for the first goal although even after watching the match DVD several times including freeze frame I cannot come to a conclusion whether the match referee was correct to give a penalty, and in turn send our lad off. The second goal is poor defending from Alex Revell and the big man knows that, it was a shame as I thought once again he was outstanding for us.

"Everyone was bitterly disappointed afterwards and rightfully so but we will bounce back, don't get down, get up and fight is what we must do. I felt for my players, my staff, the Chairman and our supporters yesterday with the result but everyone knows we should have won the match.

"My team played better yesterday than we did at Oxford United last Tuesday night, that is how good I thought our performance was and demonstrates how strange this football world is."
